Travis to MTC

Well, April 2nd came and we were able to take Travis to the Mission Training Center in Provo Utah so he could begin his training as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be at the MTC for two months before flying to Mexico City. He was so excited and was almost "bouncing". We are so proud of him for the way he lives his life and the choices he's made. He sent a letter home this week with this quote, "You're leaving your family for two years so that other families can be together for eternity." I know that families are eternal and I'm so happy to have an eternal family! Here's some pictures of Travis and the rest of our family. We did the "traditional" Taco Bell run before going to the MTC that morning. Grandma Darlene was able to go with us too!

Easter with Malinda and Family

We were blessed to have Mike and Malinda along with our four beautiful grandchildren with us for Easter. They were eager to see Travis before he entered the MTC. We had a great time along with Easter Egg Hunts, swimming and just playing around. Here's some pictures of that special time.....

Some of the grandkids

Here's a picture of me with Malinda's kids at Thanksgiving! Mackenzie and McKay are 4 1/2 and Jordan just turned 6! They are living in Ohio and right now are freezing! But their smiles always warm my heart!

Nancy's new projects

I got a new sewing machine for my Christmas, anniversary, birthday, etc. I'm so excited about it. There's so many new features than there were not on my 20 year old machine! My first project (after doing lots of mending) was a quilt top. I had some left over squares and fabric from a quilt I made for Brian a couple of years ago. So, I decided to play with those squares and do something different. It was alot of fun and I can't wait until the next one!

Travis' mission call!

On New Year's Eve, Travis got his mission call to the Mexico City East Mission! He will report to the MTC on April 2. He is so excited. So, now we're busy with passports, immunizations and missionary clothes shopping.... He's working as a personal trainer until he leaves. We are enjoying having him home for a while. After his mission, he plans to return to Dixie State College and continue playing football... Dixie State is in the process of becoming the University of Utah - St. George Campus and the coach expects Travis to be a four-year starter.
Do you notice in the picture all the phones in front of Travis? Malinda and her family are on one phone, Marcia and her family on another and Brian is on the last phone. Andrew was here at home so everyone got to hear at the same time! I know I look goofy cause I'm fighting back a few tears! (I think I fight back tears with my tongue!)

I thought it was time to update my blog site. So, it's the end of January and here's a picture of the family that was home for Christmas during the BYU Bowl game. Andrew is next to Doug and Travis is next to me. See, we're all dressed in blue! BYU won at the very end! The boys had several friends over and we really enjoyed eating and yelling together..
